If you 're a Charlotte newcomer you may be most interested in the areas that border Charlotte. A fairly popular choice is Waxhaw, Marvin, Weddington area. Located in Union County, these areas are right over the Mecklenburg county line and include some of the most stunning homes in the Metro area. This area is near the top of the fastest growing segments in North Carolina.

Waxhaw proper is a quaint little town that is stretching at the seams. Weddington and Marvin are known for their excellent schools, low taxes and their relatively close proximity to south Charlotte. Exclusive golf course communities like The Club at Longview and it’s Jack Nicklaus Signature Golf course and nearby Firethorne Country Club (where the Wachovia Tournament qualifiers play).There is also rural feel brought about by the many horse farms you will pass on the way home. Most of the homes in these towns are quite large, beautiful. and pricey. You owe it to yourself to take a ride down highway 16 south to view the bevy of exquisite neighborhoods that dot the way to Waxhaw.

Weddington has approximately 8,000 residents.
Marvin houses approximately 1,300 residents and is closest to Southeastern Charlotte.

New real estate developments have soared in this area, offering an abundance of neighborhoods featuring amenities that could include anything from swimming pools, (some water parks) tennis courts, walking trails, clubhouses, golf courses, gated communities and even some small lakes with trails leading around them.

Shopping is catching up with the growth.  Lowes, Harris Teeter, banks, specialty shops, Pharmacies, medical facilities, and fine dining are popping up all over the place. Blink and a new store seems to open everywhere.
