Third Ward real estate and Third Ward Homes for Sale including a host of condominiums! Third Ward Charlotte has a few top sellers, and those would include the condominiums at Gateway Plaza just steps away from Johnson and Wales University. Other popular places to live would include buying a condo at 230 South Tryon or Trademark. Just on the edge of it all, you can find a reasonably priced unit at Cedar Street Commons. There are several more complexes, none of which offer a great amount of square footage, but if you are not quite in the "family" way, they will offer enough room for you.

Third Ward Homes

Third Ward is a very hip-dare we say-youthful-section of  Center City Charlotte-its southwest corner.

It is in the shadow of the Panthers Stadium, amidst West Trade Street, Tryon and I-77.

Although that may sound like you are stuck in the middle of pavement, the area also abuts the greenways and parks-including an uptown Charlotte dog park!

Housing in Third Ward lacks your typical single family home, instead you will find Third Ward's old renovated mill houses.

Here you will also find some gorgeous brand new townhouses, along with plenty of condos and lofts.

Many of the condominium projects have been created since 2000-making them pretty fantastic for any city's uptown dwellings.

Expect granite countertops, clubhouse style amenities like terrace grills and rooftop pools, secure parking and gorgeous lobbies.

Small, not too terribly pricey, very cool.

Here is a short collection of what you can expect to find in Charlotte's Third Ward condominium complexes:

The Gateway Plaza complex includes a club room on the 8th floor, complete with a full kitchen,  outside grill,  and skyline views of Charlotte. Gateway Plaza also has a pool centrally located on the main level.  $225K Plus

230 South Tryon has high end security with concierge. This complex has a fitness center on the ground level; Cyber Cafe on the Second Level and a Swimming Pool. $200K Plus

Trademark offers great rooftop amenities on the seventh floor. This includes a rooftop pool, fitness room, grill area, doggie park and outdoor fire pit. ($350K plus)

Cedar Street Commons comes in at around $150K as does The Annex and 1st Row Warehouse.

Bungalow (Mill) homes are priced in the $275K-$300K range. Their size is somewhere in the 1000-1400square footage.

The Third Ward is a very walkable area and is designed to mix retail, work, living and play all into one area. So far, it is succeeding.

Third Ward Real Estate

Third Ward really started to flourish with the visionary help of Hugh McCall, once President and CEO of what is now Bank of America.

He was the driving force behind Charlotte Center Citys' thriving urbanism. Not to mention putting Charlotte on the map as a banking powerhouse.

Renovations that took place in Third Ward included the creation of a mixed use development known as Gateway Village-this has changed the landscape  of Third Ward forever.

Gateway Village is a massive urban development encompassing over 1.5 million square feet!

It includes the much coveted Johnson and Wales University-a Culinary and Design Campus.

Beautifully planned with green spaces mixed amongst it. Johnson and Wales opened with 2400 students back in 2004 and continues with strong enrollment today.

With Johnson and Wales placed in such a concentrated area, it has kept Third Ward buzzing with energy and full of new life!

In the summer, you can enjoy the food festival-aptly named, 'Taste of Charlotte'.  The streets are closed off,  and live out door cooking shows are performed, with various restaurants setting up booths to give you a "taste" of their food.

Other hang outs for Third Ward include:

Crave Dessert Bar-cool place for sweets and sweethearts. Low lighting- romance. (near the Cotton Mill's apartments and CANS)

Halo with the biggest dance floor in Charlotte's center city! Plus two giant patio areas with DJ's.

Fillmore in Charlotte-part of the new NC Music Factory. Great concerts in an intimate setting-just opened in 2009.

The Third Ward also has nearby gallery crawl and art exhibits

If Charlotte has an uptown baseball stadium for the Knight's AAA team, it will be located on land in the Third Ward.
