Home, Sweet,
Home
A Short Story
It’s such a fine little house, neatly tucked in just the right spot.
As a shelter, it served us well, but as a home it warms our heart with
fond memories.
So as we venture forward to leave our little house that contains our
treasured past, reflections persist as we check off our lists.
Who will buy our treasured little house?
Will they see it as we do?
Will they love it as much as we have? What is to become of the measured
growth of our children etched on the closet frame?
We've washed it up so it may
start anew with the next happy owners.
As Agents, we have to bear in mind that we are not just assisting in
buying or selling a product.
We are placing a home, with all its
cherished memories, up for public inspection and scrutiny, for sale to
the highest bidder.
When acting as a buyer agent, I remind my buyers, when negotiating a
purchase, to remember that we are not tossing spoiled fruit.
Buying and
selling real estate is not a war game with no quarter.
It is, as Donald
Trump calls it, the art of the deal.
So as you go marching up to conquer the little house on the hill,
remember that you are not part of the angry mob hell bent on victory at
any cost.
You are a part of the civilized world, understanding the
subtleties of the market and the people that are involved.
I like the notion that the little house on the hill will continue to
be the dream, not a notch on a belt from the last conquest.
Sometimes a soft touch can achieve better results than an iron fist,
remembering that home is where the heart is.
